Itinerary

Day 1Lisbon

  • Arrive in Lisbon, transfer to your hotel, and enjoy some free time.
  • In the afternoon, check reception boards for tour details ahead.

Day 2Lisbon Highlights

  • Morning sightseeing across Lisbon’s seven hills, meandering charming alleys, admiring iconic azulejo tiles, and soaking in the Atlantic light.
  • Visit Belém, the launch point of 15th-century navigators.
  • The afternoon is free to wander Bairro Alto, climb its viewpoint, or opt for an excursion to Sintra, Cascais & Estoril.
  • Evening return from Restauradores Square, a lively hub of cafés and bars.

Day 3Algarve Coast

  • Cross the Tagus River bridge early and head south into the Algarve region.
  • Explore Lagos, its ancient walls, harbour, and historic centre; time for lunch.
  • Afternoon visit to Cape St. Vincent, Europe’s westernmost point, and photo stop at Sagres Fortress.
  • Relax in Albufeira with beach time or wander its old town. Overnight in the Albufeira area.

Day 4From Albufeira to Évora

  • Stroll through peaceful Faro before heading inland into the Alentejo.
  • Visit Mértola, a walled river town with a commanding castle.
  • Continue to Évora, visit the Chapel of Bones (entry included), and then explore the UNESCO-listed old town with its Roman Temple and mediaeval palaces

Day 5Alentejo & Fátima

  • Scenic morning drive through the Alentejo countryside.
  • Stop at Marvão, a hilltop fortified village with sweeping views.
  • Visit Castelo de Vide, exploring its castle and historic Jewish quarter.
  • Continue to Tomar, visiting the Convent of Christ (entry included).
  • En route to Fátima, stop at Aljustrel to see the shepherds’ home.
  • Evening free at the Sanctuary of Fátima, with dinner included.

Day 6Porto & Douro Cruise

  • Arrive in Porto at 11 a.m.
  • Board a traditional Rabelo boat for a 50-minute Douro River cruise.
  • The afternoon is free to explore the Ribeira district with its colourful merchant houses and riverside cafés.

Day 7Braga & Galician Coast

  • Visit Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, taking the world’s oldest water-powered funicular to the top.
  • After exploring the sanctuary, descend its famed baroque staircase.
  • Cross into Galicia and visit Cambados.
  • Enjoy a glass-bottom boat ride through the Ría de Arousa, with mussel and oyster tasting.
  • Continue to Santiago de Compostela; a city tour is included.

Day 8Pilgrims’ Route to Oviedo

  • Explore Lugo, walking atop its UNESCO Roman walls.
  • Visit O Cebreiro, a mountain hamlet with stone cottages.
  • Arrive in León for a luminous visit to its Gothic cathedral.
  • Cross into Asturias and tour Oviedo, including its 9th-century cathedral and Campoamor Theatre.
  • Dinner at a traditional cider house.

Day 9Picos de Europa & Santander

  • Travel through the Picos de Europa, visiting the Basilica of Covadonga.
  • Continue to Santillana del Mar, walking its perfectly preserved mediaeval quarter.
  • Visit the Altamira Cave Museum (tickets included), then on to Santander for a guided bay-front tour and Catalan-style evening.

Day 10Bilbao to Madrid

  • Coastal drive to Bilbao, with a tour of the Guggenheim area, Old Quarter, and cathedral included
  • Free time to savour pintxos.
  • Continue to Madrid, arriving around 8 p.m. Note: based on group size, transport to Madrid may be by coach or train.

Day 11Departure from Madrid

  • After breakfast, the tour concludes, and you head home with lasting memories of an Iberian mosaic across Spain and Portugal.
